Progress Update #54 🛠️ – Bar Tour Gameplay, Assembling the Campaign Map, New Stretch Goals Cards

Fantasy Tabletop Devlog – Bar Tour Gameplay, Campaign Map Assembly Guide, Stretch Goals Cards & Frozen Realms Kickstarter Countdown

We are 8 days from launch! May 12th is getting closer and closer, so let’s take a look at what has been happening!

First, the gameplay video will be dropping very soon. We already have the recordings, now the montage of the whole thing is all that remains, so not long.

Second, Frozen Realms is currently on the board game bar tour of gameplay! We have already visited several in multiple cities in Poland, so if you are living close, shoot us a message, maybe we will be in your city too! Lots of fun with different races and factions, here are some shots from the last playthroughs:

This one was at Canis Lupus, a really great place. It’s more like a true board game store too, everything was there – MTG, Warhammer miniatures for painting, sets, paints, whatever you want, it was probably there XD

Really great place, definitely recommend checking it out if you ever visit Poznań!

When it comes to the Frozen Realms trailer, you will be able to see it on launch day, so May 12th when the campaign goes live it will of course be on Kick! We eventually decided not to reveal it before, but I gotta tell you, we are so damn proud of it. It turned out great, so make sure to be there to see it!

What about those stretch goal cards on Kick? Well… let’s see some more. Here is the new Zarhi Spell Card – Realm Rift, coming as part of the stretch goals:

Who said Zarhi never use sacrificial magic? Although most frequently used by Chaos Mages, Zarhi in times of need will not hesitate to sacrifice weak soldiers in order to bring fresh blood onto the battlefield and potentially win the fight. Desperate times call for desperate deeds…

This one can be a huge game changer. If your Units are going to die soon anyway and it’s unavoidable, then why not kill them yourself and bring back fresh ones in their place? A really good ace in your deck for those who rely heavily on spells!

A pretty scary item to be faced with… Spineflayer not only boosts Chaos Unit attack, but also gives its wielder the unique ability to raise a player’s Dread during battle. Not letting the Unit carrying this item attack might be the only way forward…

This is the first ever Chaos item card in Frozen Realms that lets Chaos raise the player’s Dread during battle!

We showed you some stretch goals for Zarhi and Chaos, so it’s time for some Human action. Here it is: Breaker of Alondor.

Breaking bones is what this hammer does with no effort at all… Never truly tested and lost in the ruins of a forgotten city, take it and try it out yourself! If you’ve got any powerful tanking Units, give them this hammer and watch the mayhem it creates!

So, one thing that comes up very often is questions regarding the modular Campaign Map in Frozen Realms, that is how it works and how it is modular. Let’s get to it!

Here is the whole Campaign Map divided into 49 squares. So when you assemble it, you will place tiles in such a way that the illustration connects with each other based on this image reference.

Okayy, and now into how it actually works. The size of the Campaign Map will determine, most importantly, the playtime. If you want a shorter session of around 2 hours – give or take, including rule explanation – then go for the 3 x 3 Campaign Map.

But if you want an epic day-long or even longer playthrough with four players? Then go for the 7 x 7 and you probably won’t see daylight for quite some time XD

So with this, there is something for everyone, whether you prefer shorter sessions or longer ones where you strategize for the whole day!

Recommended Campaign Map sizes:

Recommended Map size for 1-2 players is 3 x 3 and bigger.

Recommended Map size for 3-4 players is 4 x 4 and bigger.

So what are those tiles? They are provinces, so each tile is a province. On provinces you will build buildings, recruit your armies and attack other provinces. But remember, the more land you take, the more you extend yourself, so take precautions and protect your empire!

And with that said, the Devblog is coming to an end! See you next time, just a day before we launch, with the very last Devblog before launch!

But don’t worry – weekly Devblogs have only just begun. This tradition is forever. See you then! 🔥
